- Measurements of height growth -taken at the top of the tree from a point marked on the trunk and measurements of diameter growth taken at breast height (or 40 cm above the ground for seedlings) and 5 cm below the 1979 resting bud. A few trees were measured at 5 positions up the stem. Measurements were taken at least monthly for diameters and fortnightly for height.
