- Folder has loose items enclosed: Register Sheet, Workplan, summary note with site descfription (T Cooper, 7.8.95). Trial failed. No kauri seedling establishment in 1985. Area site logged for kauri in 1900, then burnt and manuka scrubland developed. Kauri seed spot sown with different degrees of canopy removal and ground raking. Object was to test method for establishment of kauri in remote areas of scrub with no close seed source. Other options seen were to use less expensive, bare-rooted stock or plant small groups of large, potted seedlings to provide future seed source (…. practice of kauri 2000 Trust on Coromandel - AEB).

- Note that plot number is incorrectly entered as A825 on Register sheet.Early trial by A D McKinnon in Waipoua Forest 1936-37 also had a poor result in open cutover forest where spot-sown kauri seed produced a 2% survival of seedlings after one year.
