Contains two unedited contibutions to the Forestry Handbook of NZ Institute of Foresters (approx. 40 pp from back of file):Report 1: Notes on the silviculture of kauri including the ecology,silvicultural charateristics, management and artificial establishment.Report 2: Notes on silviculture of red and silver beech including management of natural regeneration and artificial establishment. There are notes (approx. 40 pp from start of file) on indigenous silviculture and the performance of planted podocarps that were planted during 1959 to 1963.There are notes on 'Raising of indigenous tree species' (approx. 25 pp from start of file) including artificial establishment of rimu and the related techniques for collecting and handling seed, cleaning seeds, pre-sowing treatment of seed, sowing, lining-out, weedicides, conditioning, collecting and lining out of wildings and recommended planting techniques. These particular notes are also found in two other files held at the Dunedin Archives (CATM, 18286, D68, 165l, 28/10/2A and CATM, 18286, D68, 165k, 28/10/2) and also Auckland Archives BBQI, 7496, 23c, 27/2/1/1, 1).
