- Location map. Plot folder for R1069 contains a 1976 register sheet and workplan proposal but no copy of Workplan I58/77. Contains workplan dated 13.7.84 on analysis of growth data for this trial and 3 others entailing planting inside and outside animal exclosures. No analysis or later measurements have been found. Inspection note June 1984 concludes that rimu and kahikatea planted on ground disturbed by 50% partial logging in 1976 had not been severely browsed by mammals over past 8 years. A few planted kahikatea up to 3-4 m high but very poor growth on compacted ground. Whole area near exclosures planted with podocarp wildings by Conservancy in 1977.

- The background to this trial is given in a typed draft 'notes on Whirinaki' by A E Beveridge and D Bergin, 2005, also in annotated Whirinaki bibliography after brief field inspections by Beveridge, Pardy, Wilcox. Dense regrowth of wineberry that invaded after 50% logging of dense pdocarp forest in 1975, were mostly dead and collapsed in 2005. Much crushing by windfalls and debris. Some planted rimu and kahikatea were vigorous, up to 8m tall.
