- Location maps/plans. Volume 2, tagged sections 1-10 cover the establishment and experimental use of 3 'FRI Experimental Areas' on the Mamaku Plateau. Most correspondence deals with administrative matters. Two of the areas, consisting of cutover tawa forest have been included in DOC Conservation Reserves: one contains exceptional podocarp regeneration (Cecil Rd) and the other (north of SH5) has large and successful podocarp enrichment trial (planted from 1959-61). The Pouakani rimu regeneration area of 60 ha has exceptional podocarp regeneration and is now within the Waipapa Ecological Area. Data from regeneration survey (Beveridge, 1959) is now held by M C Smale, Landcare Research Hamilton. Tagged section 6 refers to Kaharoa Forest. File contains 4p account of performance at Kaharoa SF with prominent hardwoods and kokako population.

- Mamaku planting trial 1959-60 has emergent podocarps last measured in 1987 and due for further assessment. Two areas contain longterm forest restoration trials.
