- This is a valuable folder with subjects tagged ranging from a 1980 management plan discussion document to well-presented reports on sample plots assessing performance of planted and natural kauri, releasing operations, thinning, and apparently a good response to Magamp application a year after planting. Some fertile sites have allowed some of the best growth of kauri on areas planted by the NZFS. First planting of kauri on Gt. Barrier was done in 1948 but was discontinued with ring-barking of kanuka in 1986 before DOC introduced new management. Good reports by T Cooper on 1981 plantings. Growth data and report for SP A336, SP A424. Register sheets and location maps for sample plots A173, A332, A336, A424 and others. There are several brochures in the folder on general NZFS activities and extent of planting and releasing - opinions for and against.

- Promising growth of kauri planted beneath Pinus muricata - may be a good nurse on degraded sites. The objective of NZFS was to increase kauri component in the forest by planting and removing competition.
