Content
Mainly field data and summaries of growth measurements with useful MS report. Podocarps planted in groups of 5 in gaps cut in tall wineberry (5-8m tall) 15 years after selective logging in 1961. Assessed in 1986 after 8 years, growth poor and seedlings becoming overtopped, but kahikatea more successful than rimu (unusual). Ferns and sedges competing. Regrowth wineberry of 23 years starting to die and will collapse and break and smother podocarp saplings as elsewhere in Whirinaki where podocarp seedlings should be released. This does not appear to be the main folder - no plot register sheet or locality plan. Draft project record (possibly by Pardy or Steward).

Deer browsed out palatable ground vegetation and damaged kahikatea seedlings in some years. Sedge and grass competition. Annotated by Beveridge in Whirinaki Bibliography (DOC 2005).
