- Objectives: determine whether or not group planting of bare-rooted nursery raised seedlings could ensure replacement of podocarps removed in partial logging. Assess any browsing impact with some groups protected in small exclosures. Plots in low density and high density podocarp forest. Data on survival (95-100%) over 2 years only with height measurements. Browsing damage negligible. Manuscript planting report by G Pardy. Some totara groups planted beneath dead canopy of overburn, others by log extraction tracks. No plot location plan in folders, but separate maps exist.

- Plots still exist. Last remeasurement in 1978. Inspection in 2004 of A1069 plantings in previously dense forest showed high survival of rimu and kahikatea in gaps and by exclosures and other planted specimens up to 8m tall (AE Beveridge).
