Location plans, closed files. File A13 has an entry for sample XVIII and contains notes on clearing a kauri site of all broadleaved growth (taraire, kohekohe etc) and litter to assess natural kauri regeneration and results of direct sowing of kauri seed in patches, covered by cut manuka with seed heads. Some results on kauri regeneration are given in a report by T Barcham (4.2.47) but regeneration had failed according to a report by R Lloyd (13.5.72).A17 contains data on growth of young kauri trees in a sample plot established by McKinnon in 1937.

Future Work
Failure of direct seeding of kauri with cover of cut manuka should be investigated before any further trial of a once promising method.
