Content
Index to 10 tagged sections, 6 of them on Waipoua trials of the 1950s. A quick perusal of the folder contents indicates that no useful results were obtained from these. Field trials with little or no response to fertiliser application in terms of useful management procedures. There was some input of advice and methods from FRI, see file note by biometrician Bill Warren on lack of growth data (date of 30.8.52 deleted). The kauri cabinets have many references to later kauri fertiliser trials. See reference to fertiliser treatments on p.30 of Kauri Bulletin, 2005. Waipoua trials may have failed through infection of nursery stock by Phytophthora.

General Note
Later trials with fertiliser were established by D Bergin, but funding restrictions prevented assessment. The Kauri Trusts referred to in the Kauri Bulletin will have information on fertiliser effects in restoration trials using manuka as a nurse. Site restrictions and weed growth may have marked response to some field trials.
