- Contains 10 tagged sections. Three main trials were established in scrub near block of sub-mature kauri forest: PSP A448/1-3. Kauri planted beneath nurse of Pinus elliottii (tags 1,2,6). Folder contains diary notes on kauri planting programmes by Conservancy, work plans, file notes, progress reports. No selection management trial was established in the kauri stand but structure and growth was studied (paper published by M Smale and B Burns. Kauri planted on a tractor-cleared manuka site provided harsh conditions and fertiliser trial was abandoned after high mortality of planted kauri and possible increase in weed growth.

- Early results of planting kauri beneath P. elliottii have been published, but ultimate survival has not been assessed. Ability of kauri to survive under shaded conditions could be assessed.
- General Note
- The Whenuakite kauri stand consists of sub-mature forest, probably resulting from pre-European fires and is thus of special interest. Several trials have involved use of exotic species (usually pine) as nurses to kauri, but ultimately failure to remove pines to release underplanted kauri has resulted in suppression of kauri.
