- This folder is not the registered sample plot of the experiment closed in 1972 after felling of radiata pine with destruction of all underplanted kauri (refer closed plots in Basement Room 719) Last entry in this folder is a final report by A Lloyd (12.10.72). Kauri were group planted in 1957 and last measurement was in 1972 when 30% survived and average height was 14'2". Some seedlings were treated with 'basic slag' and superphosphate and grew slightly better than untreated control trees which showed little growth over the first 7 years.

- These records should be matched with main plot folder in basement.There are several trials where kauri has been planted with a 'nurse' exotic conifer species, eg. SP 448/3 - Tane archive No. TTT.15, method of returning kauri to a site with shelter of a nurse crop could be further tested.
