- Register sheet not found. Rae's 7p report of 6.12.72 (Waipoua 28/2/0/6) describes situation of plots established 1950-1961 by Morrison and evaluates them. Kauri survival and growth was generally very poor and Lloyd's comment on 21.12.63 provides a broader evaluation of reasons for failure of many kauri plantings - degraded soils - on old kauri sites, competition of regrowth for light and nutrients (failure to regularly release small kauri seedlings). A compartment plan indicates location of experiments. Seedlings planted on a scraped tractor-cleared site generally died as at Whenuakite later (1980), ruining fertiliser trials in each case.

- General Note
- The prevalence of root rot fungus (Phytopthora) in the heavy clay soil of Waipoua Forest nursery led to infection of many kauri seedlings and probable death of many kauri after planting 'bare rooted' on this site (AE Beveridge).
