- Location plan. 6 folders. These folders have many sheets on growth measurements, some summaries but no final report or analysis, except that R Lloyd states that volumes and volume increments are in an unpublished volume titled "Kauri volumes, second crop 1979" (copy held by FRI). There were utilisation thinnings. The object of A314 in 1963 was "to determine the response to thinning of dense kauri poles - 2 grades (to leave 60 or 100 stems/acre) thinned area was 4 ha, including a control of 0.4 ha. Folders have duplicated items and are disorganised. There was confusion about 1963 plots established but the trial was re-established in 1982, see memo by forester Frank Eichel to T Cooper (11.2.83).

- Future Work
- Analysis of data and conclusions required.
- Reference
- Broad account contained in "Kauri Management Review" (J Halkett, 1973).
- General Note
- R Lloyd laid out and measured trials carefully, but files were gathered and dispersed on closing of Kauri Management Unit about 1986. Difficult to draw coherent picture with this trial and others. Was assessed as category A plot (useful) in 1992 review. Summary of plot attached to original record. See Exp A660 for analysis of growth in A314 and work for future thinning prescriptions in kauri pole stands.
