- Content
- Location plans. Measurement data and correspondence, progress reports. Procedure for plot establishment (1956). Memo (5pp) from H Beekhuis to R Lloyd on mensurational aspects. Register sheet - controlled by FRI, initially to determine growth response of kauri and regeneration. Fiueld book references - cover 3 plots: 173/1, 173/2, 173/3. Anonymous (?Beekhuis) undated copy of general remarks on kauri thinning plots, including A174/1 at Katikati Forest. In A173/1 and /2, kanuka nurse and kauri thinnings removed by felling, destroying understorey trees. Thinning by ringbarking in A173/3. Best kauri on slope, not ridge tops. Master copy of good summary is final file entry (received by D McKenzie, 1986?). Interim report on A173 series (3 plots) on kauri thinning response and regeneration (6pp). Results in tables 1958-1978. Concluded that thinning could increase annual diameter growth from 4.4mm to 9mm. Annual height growth for all plots 12-20 cm/yr.
