- Mainly measurement data for planting rimu, matai, totara, kahikatea and tanekaha after planting in 1961, with 1963 re-measurement only. Location plans indicating various site preparation methods: use of tractor to scalp or crush vegetation in lanes for totara planting in Compt 21; line planting of podocarps in Cmpt 15. Sample Plot numbers on measurement sheets include A282 (totara), A281 (kahikatea groups), A280 (puriri), A278 (totara, rimu, tanekaha). No other information is given. Records of registered plots have not been located. Folder is labelled "Russell Forest, 1961 plantings" and may have been D Preest's copy of data.
- Source
- Russell Forest, Compt 21, Papakauri and Punaruku Blocks.
- Future Work
- Lack relevant information, but at 45 years after planting podocarps should be emergent from other vegetation. It should be possible to locate these plots from existing plans.
- General Note
- Site preparation trials have parallels to the successful establishment of podocarps in Mamaku Forest, planted 1961.
- Sort
- Not required, but need to find the main sample plot records.
