- Folder sent from Russell and contains location plans, register sheet and growth data for line-planted rimu, totara, tanekaha, kahikatea and matai seedlings from FRI Nursery wilding stock planted 1961 and mainly from seed or wildings collected in central North Island forests. Growth data for 1962, 1968, 1972 and 1985. Summary reports by R Lloyd (1972), T Cooper (6.11.85) and D McKenzie (received at FRI 1986). Extent of releasing difficult to determine. Lines cut in dense manuka up to 6m tall with occasional emergent rimu and totara. Final note is a memo dated 3.4.86 by D Bergin discussing future care and worth of plot (given Category A status). Slow growth of shaded podocarps. Best survival was for rimu and kahikatea c.80% at 24 years, with mean heights of 170 and 280cm.
