- Cover report by Pardy and Herbert (July 1992): Review and evaluation of kauri trials established from 1921-1983 by NZ State Forest Service and NZ Forest Service, the Kauri Management Unit and the Forest Research Institute, Rotorua. Text 7pp, 3 appendices listing kauri plots: 29 category A (potentially useful); 8 or 9 category B (possibly useful). Category C (19 plots) were abandoned by KMU and considered not worth measuring. Sample plot folders for 150 kauri trials were inspected and evaluated. Descriptive and prescriptive forms are attached for each of the 38 more useful sample plots., and 20 Private and Park kauri plantings that were measured 1985-86. Excellent 7p report on historic background to kauri research and informtion storage, with 6 appendices on categorised plots.

- Plots classified as useful or potentially useful should be visited and assessed, recording CPS position. Undamaged areas should be registered under the current scheme, considered by NZ Institute of Forestry and Tane's Tree Trust, and with provision for protection by DOC

- No money has been allocated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (or predecessors) since 1992. Note that abandoned and closed sample plots may have records with useful items (probably low priority for Tane).
