Research paper concerning the silviculture of silver beech in Southland (dated 1951). It records the basic knowledge that had so far been gained on silver beech and the associated silvicultural techniques. It includes a description of the forest, climatic conditions, fungi affecting silver beech, associated vegetation and managed forests with associated regeneration with sample plot records of diameters and increments of stands, growth rates in sapling stands and height growth of silver beech between 40 to 75 year old trees.
