Contains a report on 'Investigations, Westland Rimu Forests, 1928 - 1934' (by Foweraker and Hutchinson). It is mainly concerned with the management of old growth virgin stands but also deals with regeneration capacity of rimu concerning seed bearing, germination and favourable conditions and the growth of rimu from sedling stage to sapling to dominant trees. There is growth data of rimu recorded.There are brief notes on locations of silvicultural research areas in Westland. A report on 'The Westland Podocarp Rain Forest, Silvical Research 1927-1928' (by Foweraker and Hutchinson) is partly concerned with sample plots that investigate seed production, seed and germination and conditions which podocarps are most suited to.
