- Kauri seedlings were planted into 5 raised beds around 4 of which were built frames covered with varying grades of shade cloth. One bed was left open as a control (full light). RLI in the beds ranged from 23 - 96%. The seedlings were planted out in Dec 1976 when they were 8 months old and between 6 and 10.5 cm height.Seedlings were measured 3 times a year (April, August & December) until June 1979 when they were harvested. Records collected over the 2.5 year period were: growth pattern, total height, root collar diameter, change in leaf colour, leaf area,green weight of roots,stems & leaves, dry weight of same. Some nutrient levels (possibly foiliage) also seem to have been obtained.
