- Kauri will germinate between 12oC and 36oC. However germination and subsequent growth of cotyledonary seedlings is adequate only between 19oC and 28oC. The optimum temperature is 25.5oC. Pathogenic fungi can kill germinating seedlings at high temperatures so it is unlikely that, in the field, effective germination will occur above 27oC.
